I used to live off McDonald's and Subway (And whatever else looked good in a Pilot), until I came home one day after being gone for two weeks. Wife loomed at me and asked what happened. I ask what she's talking about, she says 'there's two of you'. Puzzled, I inquire further, she proceeds to tell me I got fat. She wasn't lying. When I started that job I was 160 pounds soaking wet. That day I was 220 pounds. 60 pounds in six months. It's been slow but I'm down to 185 now. I never touch Subway or McDonald's now, and haven't been in a truck stop for food in two years.

That aside, I can't believe nobody mentioned Franks Truck Center in Chesapeake, VA. The food is awesome there. We went to The Outer Banks over the summer, and I insisted we stop there. That is now a mandatory stop when we're in the area. (Wife's orders)

In tx there is a lot of bbq places between san antonio and houston. also look for the sunoco truck stops that has laredo taco company in there. they are really good for the price. everything is made 3-4 hours ago max.

Sunoco? AKA "Stripes" in some places. Not quite sure as to who the fuel supplier for the Stripes is out here in eastern NM. But I do notice that Sunoco branded one at the north end of Lampasas whenever I'm rolling to Austin in my personal vehicle for the Thursday Night bicycle ride.
Can't go wrong with the freshly made tacos. It seems the dietary choices between 8pm and 6am are all deep-fried or artificial, artery clogging garbage that's kept out for preservation reasons.
I'd risk the food poisoning with bad vegetables or fast before having to resort to the garbage on a full-time basis.
The grave-yard shift and irregular hours workers definitely take it up the rear when it comes to cuisine.

I eat a lot of Subway,it sure beats greasy burgers but recently at one of the oasis in Chicagoland I discovered Panda Express.Pretty good food for the money, wish they were present at truck stops instead of Denny's.

I 64 in Indiana, Leavenworth extit 92 I think. The county style in the corner of the loves. Best Beef Manhattan I have ever had. More than most will want to consume. Good prices big servings and I every thing I have tried is top notch.

Chesters used to be alright until they shrunk the size of their tenders by 50%. Subway is played out and will make you fat. Nowadays I just try to eat my own food that I buy at Walmart.
