What I would do is see what kind of ammendities trucking companies have.I know some do have a gym.I don't know of any truckstops that have that. You'll have to have the will power to stay away from truck stop food and do maybe a good walk after you finish your day.You don't need a qym to keep in shape.

No. It comes in a package; like we see tuna in. Here's what one looks like: CLICK. There are cans too.coastietruckin' Thanks this.

If you really wanna be able to cook decent meals then forget the 12v cooler and get an inverter and a real fridge, a small dorm one. It's a night and day difference and you can find them for less than the price of the electric cooler. Food will stay fresher longer and you don't have to worry about how warm the cab gets, the fridge will stay cold unlike the cooler.
SidewaysBentHalo and coastietruckin' Thank this. -
SOME trucking company terminals have exercise rooms. Those are a lot more common than exercise equipment inside a truckstop.coastietruckin' Thanks this.

Dorm fridges, last I looked, pull a lot less power from the batteries/inverter than an electric cooler.

Ive heard of some Flying J's offering weight rooms, but Ive never actually seen one. You can buy some free weights and keep them in your truck. As for diet, stay away from sugar and carbs such as bread, any type of noodle, rice, anything that comes from a grain will cause you to gain weight. I usually buy these spinach boxes at Walmart in the refrigerated vegetable section and add some 1. precooked smoked salmon, or precooked chicken in a bag (both also sold at WM in the meat section). I have a microwave and will heat the chicken if I get it and melt some cheese on top of it. This will keep you lean, healthy and maintain muscle mass.coastietruckin' Thanks this.

I used to cook pizzas from scratch in my old truck with a 1200w pizza oven. The cooking was the easy part, it's the cleanup afterwards that I didn't enjoy.coastietruckin' Thanks this.

I make this suggestion because food is a personal thing and many will not normally eat at t/s if they actually had a choice.
I suggest you make a road trip for a day. go to the closest one for breakfast, then haul your butt over to another one a bit farther to see what it is like for lunch and then hit one for dinner out of state.
You will gain 30 lbs, no doubt about that, but maybe you will rethink the over the road driving part and find something local that will allow you can control your food.
weight rooms?
You are kidding?
We are lucky to have the bathrooms clean once a week. -
I'm hoping to pay my dues getting experience in OTR then get something local. Even Line Haul would be nice if I got home everyday.
