Average 2017 freight rates

Its been all over the place for me. Anything from $2.25 -$3 for pre-booked loads from brokers I've been dealing with on a regular basis down to the $1.50 mi cheap hauls to get back to the $2 - $3 lanes.

I noticed that volumes have picked up steadily since last Nov. Been getting really good since Jan. Rates are still all.over the place. My overall average for 2017 has been $2.19 on all miles. Thats spot market freight.. nothing dedicated unless you want to call dealing with the same 5 - 6 brokers dedicated. I found them on Truckstop.. so nothing really special. Just been working steady and humping away a little bit at a time.

2017 is waaaaaay better than 2016. Still not enticing enough for me to pull a load, but just for comparison this was the 2nd Friday in February 2016:

Definitely more volume & higher rates in 2017, but still ####ty (its February afterall).

 

Just out of curiosity, do you know who was paying $3 out of Chatt for the power load?

 

Those are all from Hub group, but the underlying customer was probably Amazon (in which case it probably canceled or was otherwise a pain in the ###)

 

That was Amazon for sure. Probably was gone really fast. Isn't it funny the guys working direct contract for Amazon get that same exact load for about $500. Or maybe sad that they are so stupid to sign their company away like that for less than nothing?

I haven't hauled anything since mid Jan. Rates and volumes are terrible around here. No point in working for nothing. I'll make up the shortfall this spring and summer.

 

All the trucks that I see pulling Amazon trailers at the Speedway, just down the street from Amazon, are always the Eastern-Euro Trucking-Mafia types. That tells me alot about the way Amazon does business.
