Finally saw Jason this morning. One year verifiable experience.

 

Well so far so good. Been here two weeks now and so far the proverbial other shoe has not dropped. True to form I have been up and down the I 5 and the 99 here in California. Went back through Tehacapi once just to see something different and take a break from the Grapevine. Had some issues with the Volvo so I moved into a 2015 Cascadia on Monday. It is in much better condition and the DD 15 pulls ok. I will miss the 13 speed but overall I am pleased. I have spent a lot of time in Cascadias so this feels more like home anyway.

This is my first one with the led headlights and I have to say I can see a lot better at night with them.

I'm sitting at the C&H Sugar plant in Crockett doing a 10 hr break before I head to Fresno Costco.
I also have to admit I like the pay per load over cpm. Not so stressful when the wheels aren't turning.

 

I call them Pornstars because if your driving one your getting screwed.

 

Our sister company, Gaio, have the Pornstars, not Lexmar. The majority of our trucks are Cascadias that are replacing the Volvos. Five long time drivers with the company have Western Stars.

 

Well I have been here for five months now. I am still happy and things are going well. Still driving mostly in California with an occasional run into Casa Grande Arizona. Did a couple to Reno before the snow hit. No chains on my truck and at my age I leave that for the younger crowd. Still home on the weekends for the most part.

Started having some left knee pain and asked for a truck with an auto shift awhile back and low and behold I am now driving a Western Star 5700XE. Nice truck. Not as much storage space as in the Cascadia I had before, but it rides and drives much nicer. It forced me into downsizing the amount of crap I carry around which is a good thing. Still on paper logs, paid per trip and not missing the "I got to go go go" mentality of cents per mile...

Its not for everyone, but it is working out ok for me.
