Engine is running rough. Normally puts out 55 psi of boost, now it is down to 40 psi. When they hook it up to the computer it looks fine. Changed the wiring harness did not help at all now I am being told must be ecm.

Did they just hook laptop and check for faults? They need to do a CatEt check while driving along with a mechanical fuel gauge to check your pressure. Dont just throw an ecm at it. Whoever told you that you needed the ecm should be able to say well you have 5.2 volts coming into ecm and 0.2 coming out or something like that. Just guessing that is the problem is not acceptible.

I would agree needs some more troubleshooting to make for sure. I have used cata electronics in tx for alot of ecm work and they can bench test one if you run out of ideas. I would rule out fuel or injector issue first.

Steve what did you find out with your engine? Did you get it up and running again?

Yes it is running well now, had nothing to do with ecm.
It is a very long story which includes two head gaskets. A couple wiring harnesses and a lot of money spent on diagnosing a problem no one seemed to be able to figure out. It turns out the VVA system is operated on oil pressure and the shop that did the head gasket did not replace six little o rings, these o rings were shot and pissing oil out everywhere. Thus the intake valves were not opening when they should. Thus building pressure in the head. Thus blowing out the head gaskets. Trying to find a good cat mechanic seem almost impossible.

I was phoning around seeing who might be able to help me out. Finally talk to the service manager at inland Kenworth in Prince George. He told me if I was willing to pay for three hour of diagnostics he would tell me what was wrong with my truck. I told him to fly at it. They ran a bunch of test, removed the valve covers fired it up oil went shooting over the cab of my truck. O rings VVA system he replaced them truck runs great. Oh and the best part, NO CHARGE. As another inland Kenworth had replaced the head gasket twice and did not replace the o rings.
