Im leasing with swift. Little more than 6 weeks. Its not bad. Freight is slow right now but many companies are somewhat slow in Jan and Feb. I knew it coming into here.
My fixed rates for my 1st 15 weeks are 923. Thats with truck payment and all insurances. After those 15 weeks itll drop 150 a week.
As for miles. I was 1 of 3 ppl that came here together. All 3 of us run diffrently and it is showing already.
I fuel for the trip. Another fuels for the week and the other predicts the direction he will be going and fuels for 2 days. Needless to say i spend less on fuel than they do.
I dont idle. I dont go to places with high mountains with heavy loads. I also use the load board, which offers 3 loads which really isnt bad.
I still learning the system but im getting by. Im not getting rich. Never thought i would. I been driving alnost 21 years and wanted to give a lease a shot.
I have a " X " ammount of money i need to cover my bills at home and the tax service went through it all with me. And including state and federal tax came up with a miles number i need each week to stay above water and i been getting it or slightly over it. I needed 2742 a week in miles which after all of truck is paid leaves about 1200 for taxes and house bills. Im fine with it. I know my bottom dollar I need to cover my home bills thats all that matters.
Last week not so great, take gone was 917. This week was 1648. Had a run layover to this pay.
I wont hide it or play with numbers. I really did have a load that i delivered on the 1st day of the pay period and thats why last week and this weeks are over 700 diffrent.
But thats me in a nutshell. I run. Ill do a 8 hour drive and if i can take another load on a short haul for 2 hours to make extra cash.
Any questions just ask

jdavis0036, Metalshadow and truckerman75103 Thank this.

Tip on the fuel ... It's and independent line item expense. Fill your tanks where fuel is inexpensive, regardless of where you are in the week. You're going to use the fuel no matter what. Don't worry about you short term weekly cash flow ... focus on your long term profit

Question sorry

What he's talking about is Macro 30. You can query the system up to 24 hrs before your PTA and it will offer up to 3 loads to chose from. You can chose to take one or wait an hour and query again.
Swift also has a broker program, that you call directly any time and rates are negotiable. The program is primarily OTR, solo, dry van and is available by invitation only. -
Thanks that 3 load deal sounds pretty neat kinda let you control the loads a little

Swift lease is still a very bad deal. Student, okay maybe a decent deal. But who can pass a DOT physical with blood pressure that high lol
Jtrucker90 Thanks this. -
I wouldn't dare get into debate with someone who has your breadth and depth of knowledge of the industry.
FerrissWheel and RedRover Thank this.
