What is hanging in front of the radio?
A watt meter?
It sounds like to me an internal device in the truck, not external to the truck.

Yeah it's a watt meter I was told to keep it around so I can check swrs every once in awhile since I go off road a lot. So I figured instead finding a place to keep it I just put it there.
-
@Ridgeline I had some engine wine coming through today to. So I wonder if it ain't a little bit of both
-
I dont think I would call that noise static. I had a Volvo a couple years ago and the same noise would show up some times on channel 19 some times on channel 17, it started after the company installed E- Log ( peoplenet) and then when they switched to Bluetree system it went away.
-
Kinda sounds like a ground loop.
-
That's not the static I was talking. It just started doing that today. It would go away after awhile are if I turned the squelch up past the half way mark. I have two cell phone chargers one for my phone and one for the company phone. I have to leave it plugged in all the time because that's how the do their e-logs and dispatch. I unplugged them but it didn't seem to help so I just plugged them back in. I also have hydro tank heaters that pull 50amps when on but it does it on or off. I have led work lights on when you turn them on the static goes through the roof and no amount of squelch will stop it. Don't know if any of those would do it.
-
How do you do away with that. And thanks for all the help you have been giving me.
-
Is your watt meter always in line?
-
No I have it unhooked. I was told it messes with the 50ohms
-
Not if you have a purely resistive 50 ohm antenna. ( most likely not though )
