Why would it be a horrible idea to run with a 3500 and wedge? Alot of guys run this setup.
On a side note, i have found this site very informative. Guys will tell you to do your research and call you stupid. Its like, help a guy out or beat it. Good luck man.

Don't miss my point. There is good info here. However I would not base important business decisions off an internet message board. If that's what you want to do. Be my guest.

Just ran a load out to Denver on 1-80 and must have seen over 30 car haulers using a Ram 3500 with a wedge. Must not be that bad of a setup.

They act like this because this is an issue that has been beat to death for years. But since you are new and, from what I've read so far fairly intelligent, I'll say it again. The right semi will cost 1/4 what the dually does, will be worth the same if not more when you sell it, cost less per mile to run, more comfortable ride, plenty of room to sleep, can pull air ride/air brake trailer when you get to that point (which will further lower your cost per mile and raise your income), and actually be able to stop safely! Hell just the last reason should be reason enough.

A lot of people went out and bought Maxxforce powered trucks too does that mean that it's a good idea? No because it's nearly 100% chance of putting you out of business.

I will not get into a pissing match or argue. I will say this. The GCVWR is the combined maximum deamed safe by the manufacturer. Exceeding these limits might or might not pass dot. I will say that if you get in any major accidents or hurt someone you may face criminal charges and or lose everything. To over work a truck is unsafe. Good luck.
