A question never answered about Bobtailing on No Truck roads

No trucks means no trucks and I can tell you from practical experience that bob tail or not, you can get a ticket with one of them barney fifes.

 

Depends on if the cop is in a bad mood or not. I would venture to say 'no trucks' means anything over a one ton.

 

No truck signs usually have a GVW along with it. Say 5 ton. Bobtail is still rated at 80000 lbs (standard class 8). Now a local cop may not know better. But you can get a ticket for it.

 

I wouldn't mes with it.

 

Have you seen how much some of those truck route tickets cost? Don't do it!

 

I park at home, sign says no trucks,5 ton weight limit.
Thats the only time I violate the law.

 

You are right, I do go on 'No Truck' road too when I'm bobtailing in an area that I'm familiar with. But I think the sign applies to even bobtails, the reason could be because of low clearance or weigh limits. Some small town roads can't handle 9+ tons of weight. Have I done it? Yes. Can the cops cite you for being in a 'No truck' road? Yes.

 

An empty bobtail is still going to be 10500-11500 pounds on the steer axle. Many no truck routes are weight limited to the point you'd be several thousand pounds overweight on the steers.
