Hey all,
I've been reading lots of info on here and think I've picked up a couple of things. (Don't take my microwave to the trainer's truck) I've also watched a bunch of videos, and I am wondering about that clutch thing, though.
For those of you who don't float the gears; do you ride the clutch the entire time?

Ride the clutch? I do float 99% of the time. The other 1% is a combination float/double clutch.
But what do you mean ride the clutch? -
No. Ride the clutch in my truck and you'll swallow your teeth.
-
Resting your foot on the clutch when not shifting.

Unless your useing the clutch or backing into a spot best practice is keep your foot off the clutch.
Floatings easier anyway.passingthru69 and OLDSKOOLERnWV Thank this. -
No. You do not do that. I dont think it would be possible unless your clutch was so wore out, it needs to go to the floor. You dont need to send the pedal to the floor anyway, mine only needs maybe two inches of pushing before it engages.Thinkingboutbeinganewbie Thanks this.

I love the smell of clutch brake in the morning.Lepton1, ncmickey, CasanovaCruiser and 1 other person Thank this.

Unless you need the clutch , you don't touch the clutch.Lepton1, Bean Jr. and OLDSKOOLERnWV Thank this.

I was wondering about the test. What they want to see. There's always the manual way and the real way.

I grit my teeth when I follow a vehicle (car / truck) and the brake lights are lit up for a long distance or even miles. No need what so ever to be resting your hoof on the clutch, unless as stated earlier you are easing backwards into a dock, or parking space.
bottomdumpin, Bean Jr., Toomanybikes and 4 others Thank this.
