Hi guys
I am buying a used truck and want to perhaps lease with Landstar. Do they provide assistance in obtaining plates, permits, IFTA, etc. or will I need to do all that myself? I'm quite new to this, any help would be appreciated.

They will provide all that to you at your expense, deducted through your settlements.

That's still easier than doing it all myself. Another related question - if I buy a truck, is there a way to get a temporary license so I can bobtail it to a Landstar location and have them set it up? Or do I need to do all that from the location of the used truck before I can drive it?

Hope u have a place to park your truck and their rrailer. The multimillion dollar company can't afford drop lots.

Better get a lease offer before you buy,LS leases on less that 5% that apply.

When I bought my truck I had to get it home on my own dime.
ALSO! Before your lease gets approved you need to pay for a Landstar DOT at one of their approved sites. It was about $140 for me and it was before I received my plates.
You don't have to bring your truck to orientation. The only thing they need to do is put the ELD in your truck at an approved location.
Also, if you're gunning for LS buy a truck 96 or newer so their ELD is guaranteed to work.
Any other questions about the hiring process ask away. -
I am just a couple steps away from leasing on, Hazmat, new physical and get a copy of my 2290 to them, but I am still a little unsure. I wonder if I'll have a difficult time finding loads to run over the weekends? I really hate to sit around for a day or two on a weekend if I have hours to run. Do any of you guys have a problem with this? If I book loads by Friday are there enough customers that are open on the weekends that you can pretty much keep moving?
