Who has defeated 'burnout'? How?

I think I'm reaching burnout. I've been working 6 day weeks for a long time. I've been with my current employer almost 18 years, with driving since late 1994. I have the easiest, most convenient schedule to be had where I am at. If you've overcome 'burnout' by something other than quitting, I'd like to hear how you did that?

Honestly, I take a week or two off whenever I start feeling burnt out. Luckily the way my work is now I get from just before Christmas till late Feb off. Usually when I start back up in late Feb, early March, I'm ready to get back at it. Sometimes you just need to step away for a while. But that's just me.

WOW!!!!! You've been with that single employer for a long time I applaud you for that. But since your burned out how about talking to your boss about getting the weekends off.Truck driving can burn ppl out simply because its boring especially local driving .That's how it was for me anyway.Only thing that changed was the day.Its sounds like in your case you need a vacation completely away from your job. Take the family on a trip.

Communication is the key. If you don't have a discussion with someone the only person to blame is yourself. I've experienced the same thing, but I had to make a change.

Take a week off, go fishing, leave the cell phone and all electronics home. I repeat LEAVE THE ELECTRONICS HOME!
