That's what I was thinkin'. It's not so much the current draw, as it is RF getting into the ECM. This can cause all sorts of havoc::oops: Engine dying out, wipers coming on, squeals, hums, and if you pop sum'pin' in that computer, KER-CHING!!! $$$$$ And your company ain't gonna be happy with YOU if that happens. Truly, it is NOT worth the hassle, unless you got plenty on the hip. Moola, that is! Your "mileage" may vary, so they say!o_O

A power cell is a battery they are used mostly in the car stereo world to power up large amplifiers in cars/suvs...look up kinetik power cells--- a capacitor is another option and probably a cheaper alternative--- I run a kinetik 3800 power cell in my truck

For what it's worth I run a dx500 in my personal pick up truck (Toyota Tacoma) but you should invest in a better antenna than the 5 footer you have now if you can. Look into a 108 whip from MFJ or a Sirio 5000. Best and second best CB antennas on the market hands down. As for coax, RG8X is OK. Times Microwave LMR-240 would be better.

The nice thing about the dx500 is you can run a stock 4 watt Cobra on it all day long and it'll run cool and run for a long time. Plan on running 8 awg or larger off of the battery.

Adding a farad cap works great for car stereo amps, not so great for RF amps.
