Is it possible to get 7 MPG from CAT3406E (2WS) or the C15 (6NZ) engines ? Please share your knowledge, what rear ends, what transmission?

Sure , why not? My brother in law regularly gets high 6s in his tri axle C15 W900.

I'd think with a aero truck, right specs and the correct driving it would be possible.

Hopefully we'll see some people chime in with some specifics that have done it.

99 int. 9300 1LW set at 500/1850 13spd 3.73 rears lp 24.5. Last ifta 7.92. Run 62-65mph. That's with a pre low nox file with some tweaks. If you have a low nox file it'll drop at least 1mpg.

When I was a company driver with a w900L with 6nz hauling multi drop reefer work I always got between 6 and 7. Very good motor. I don't know what it had for any tune in it, if any.

    C15 cat 550 hp
    18 speed duel over
    4:56 rear ends
    4.1 - 5.4 US gallons. 5.0 - 6.4 imperial gallon
That is an average pulling 140,000 50% of the time through the mountains.

I average 1.78 kilometres per litre.
The wife gets 2.3 kilometres per litre.
She will not drive the canyon!

Sure. I did it in a International with a 3406E and a 13 speed back in the mid 90's when I was doing line haul for an LTL outfit and pulling doubles/triples. I was the one who filled it each night and could track the economy out of curiosity. I typically ran around 65 mph. Not sure the diff ratios. It had low pro rubber and if I recall, I was turning about 1500 at 65, so my guess is that the diffs were 3.55, 3.53, whatever.
