I'm at over 34gb for my billing cycle,.. no throttling or reduction of speed at all.
Speedtest from laptop on hotspot. I'm in the boonies of Corrina, Maine. Not the greatest signal,.. but still above and beyond what I need. Clearly not being reduced to 3G here.
This is the current usage page from my Verizon so you can see my current data usage.

Hell they gave me $650 for an old iPhone to start a new line.
Signed the paperwork, switched my old line to that account, swapped numbers, then cancelled the service on the line I just opened to get the $650 trade in deal lol
If there's a way to let a corporation pay your way you find it and take it. You shouldn't have to pay any cancellation fees to go be someone else's customer. They want you, play ball with them.spyder7723 Thanks this. -
And don't forget, mainstream 4k video is around the corner. This requires 4 times the data that todays current 1080hd video does. Yes, they are working on a new video standard (h.265) with higher compression rates to help accommodate this massive video file size increase, but it has it's own issues.
No, completely unregulated LTE level or higher data plans are not coming anytime in the short or the long term. They will be forced to continue implement caps and downgrades to keep the 30% from consuming 70% of the capacity. If the big consumers want to consume heavily they will be forced to pay heavily and/or operate on reduced throughput capacities.
Societies that "give away" free this and free that to EVERY citizen ("healthcare" for example) always have a host of limits on these services such as long waits, rationing, reduced service, caps and limits, etc. It's just a natural law that there is never anything that is truly unlimited at a set price.Last edited: Feb 19, 2017

Unlimited wireless will happen. Once the next generation,..5G ( LTE-A will be the stepping stone for now, I have not done a whole lot of reading on it) becomes the defacto standard,. there will be more than enough pipe to sustain the data needs everywhere except maybe some of the most extremely congested peaks that NYC or Chicago see. And who knows,.. they might get that sorted out too.
What they will do is the same as they are with residential internet services now. They will break the data down into speed tiers. Those who pay more,.. get more speed/volume of data. Its the only way I see them being competitive with each other and making the mass public happy.

That's what they said when EDGE was thing next big thing. Then 3G, then 4G, then LTE....
What you seem to be forgetting is that every time we advance the speed of the data we also increase the use of the data pipes. With 4G/LTE it was streaming everything from video to audio. Next will be 4K video, after that who knows.
As for home internet, well about 20 years ago when I got my first cable modem installed it was unlimited. It wasn't until roughly 2 years ago that limits became the norm. Why? Because people were streaming everything instead of paying for the more expensive cable packages. The cable companies realized they were assisting people to buy LESS of their services, so they came up with a way to charge people. Buy our cable package, or stream more and pay for that privilege.
I'm not sure what world you live in, but the one I live in corporations don't care to make people happy, they care to make money. And as long as they can charge for a service, they will.

I looked into this and I wouldn't come out any better than I am with AT&T. All the hidden fee's and taxes are what get's you.

Hurst Thanks this. -
You need to have a satisfied client base or you will lose customers. So to keep your clients happy,.. you will provide a service that is not only profitable,.. but give the people what they want. Not sure where you see the complication in this.
For a company as large as Verizon to offer their version of unlimited data is a huge move. It has the others climbing on top of each other to make their service more attractive.
Single priced tiered structures are the only way I can see carriers over selling their services.

I provided an open book to my service with Verizon. There is nothing hidden.
Expensive? Yes,.. but then so is a Cadillac or Lexus.

And this isn't self righteous crap either. I'm a consumer too. I buy things and services I don't need. I'm just telling it like it is.
