    #### son, I knew they would home in on the violators, but that's a lot of equipment. I'm not worried about it as I don't run a linear, just tuned out radio.

My neighbor used to drive and told me a story that he was at TS (don't remember where), but they were all talkin' and having a good time and some pecker neck would sit back in his sleeper and key down when people tried to talk so they couldn't. He said there was a driver pushing 2000W started easing around the parking lot and he happened to see an arm come out of the sleeper curtain and grab the mic and when he saw his meter jump he keyed down as well and said that driver blew the antennas off the mirrors of the a-hole that kept keying down on everybody. I don't know if that sounds plausible to the seasoned CB users, but I took his word for it as he's got 3 DD214's and a secret security clearance from NAM.

Blew off the antennas? Did he shoot at them?
I wish CB operators would be courteous. What's the point of a key-down contest? If you're keying down, you don't have a clue who's signal is doing what-----your receive is disabled during transmit....

LOL, I have no idea... From what I understand the driver pushing 2000W keyed down on the other and his set-up obviously couldn't handle that much power that closer and destroyed it. Like I said, I wasn't there to verify, but he's never steered me wrong before so I took his word for it. It was a funny story none the less to me, but I don't know if that's possible.

T'aint possible...might have taken out the other guy's receiver, but that's about all the possible damage that can be caused by front end overload from a very strong signal. Makes a good "I #### you not.." story, though.

You do know that this is an old old story, told around the lunch counter many many times?

Speaking of old...back in the late 70s, in the days when CB and full-size conversion vans where hot stuff, there was a guy running a pair of co-phased 108" whips on the top of his big Chevy van. One night, he drove under a low underpass, one of the whips hooked on something, pulled out of the mount and flew backward, spearing a motorcyclist that was following the van. The van driver saw it happend, stopped and loaded the biker into the van and rushed him to the nearest hospital and waited outside the ER. When the doctor came out, the van driver asked about his condition and the Dr. says, "I'm sorry, but I have to tell you the man died." The van driver was distraught, and began crying.."Oh, it's all my fault, I can't believe it, I don't know how I'll ever be able to live with myself!" The doctor replied, "Now, don't be so upset. It was, after all, and accident, and I must say that in all my years of practicing medicine, this is the first time I've ever seen anyone die from van aerial disease."

It's a contest to see who gets heard on the other end. You have two who key up and a third serves as the judge in who he can hear over the other.
