Apexi might work if your ECM do not have a boost cutout. It is just cheating map signal to ECM so that ECM sees higher pressure than it actually is. I think it still cant give +210 hp like PPBox, maybe max 50 hp or something like that.
PPBox is not cheating sensors, I think it actually keeps the injectors open longer after the original signal has ended. So it´s not retarding the timing either, that would be quite stupid because what you need for emission engines is advanced timing.
That scored liner in someones Cat engine with PPBox is most likely due to too much blowby. Blowby burns oil off the cylinders and everyone knows what happens then. You dont score the liner in short dynotest no matter how high your EGTs are. Here is a dynosession of an old 16 liter Volvo puller, they didnt score the liners! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PaBrcR0QUhI

That all depends on the driver. If the driver is a dim wit that don't give a rip then make him walk.
I like a truck to perform simply to get maximum fuel economy and longitivity at regular legal highway speeds.
I hate walking or waiting because of a break down. Would rather be driving and making money for me and the truck. Would rather spend down time at home with the family instead of out in a hotel room in Timbuctwo -
Earlier you said he didnt have high EGTs, if his EGT gauge is of good quality its fast enough to show real EGTs especially on a static dyno. And he didnt get 1200 hp with only a box, right? He had injectors, ECM and box but not enough turbo if it was overfueled.
In Europe we dont need fuel temp wires or boxes, we just make a custom program for ECM. For big HP you need injectors and turbo of course. -
Thats what the 'without my knowledge' part was for..
If i know a driver will look after the gear and my fuel economy, i would do it for them. Better than to hope they get the tinkering right...
Besides, i believe in having more than just enough... i use 500 hp towing all of 30K lbs in a box localy.. If i were towing 2 or more trailers, i would have it wound out as far as it would go.. the right foot controls fuel.. -
Ahh nevermind, whats the point?Last edited: Sep 26, 2008

We announced that the ISX box was ready but that shouldn't have been done yet. There are actually a few versions of the ISX ECM and the Powerbox worked on some versions but not all. We want the ISX box to work for any ISX ECM.
Currently we are doing some limited testing with the 08 ISX and 08 Cats. Particulate filters complicate things. Demand isn't huge for them right now anyways but phone calls for them seem to be getting more frequent.
Right now lots of people are calling for one for the Macks. It's too early to tell if it'll will work but Bruce has already started calling it the "Dog box" project -
As Bruce would say..."Drive with your right foot". On power level 7 on say....1/3 throttle it won't add any more fuel then on power level 3 with the foot on the floor. 49 pounds is pretty stout for a single turbo. If your talking about an acert with twins thats not high at all. Those can get into the 60s. so...what engine are we talking about?
-
opps...didn't see your sig. Yeah...that's some serious boost. Is your turbo stock? Running it on 7 doesn't usually cause wear but because *sometimes* it does that we must advise against it.
If you don't mind I'm interested in knowing how many miles you have on it and how many miles you have been running it on 7? How has 7 changed your fuel mileage? -
Turbo is stock but I didn't say Im getting 49lbs of boost. Just the pittsburg reads 49lbs. I have yet to put a mechanical guage on it and I would have by now but the trucks been down for 3 months getting the frame streched and painted. I've probably ran roughly 20,000 miles with it on 7 and my fuel mileage I can calculate accurately when I get the sheet out of my truck but from the top of my head its probably getting about 4.5mpg and im pretty hard on it with my right foot plus i let it smoke alot. Prior to the box I was getting around 5.5MPG with my foot right in it all the time... I'm a power hungry guy.
