Well I'm having a problem with a install on a Superstar SS158-edx in a RD Model Mack Dump Truck.

Im getting a terrible fan motor sound from the Air/heat fan motor that just will not go away. I've tried hooking directly to the battery and moving the coax to a different area but with no success.

I am at a total loss on what to do to fix this other than squelch it out. I did order a Noise filter like this one here

hoping this may eliminate the problem and going to change my cheapo fiberglass antenna to a Wilson 2000 trucker with 5" shaft hoping for better reception and punch. I've included a link to 2 wav files where you can here the sound.

Here is the sound of the radio during a test when I did a radio check to another cb mounted in a car, it came in clear and strong but was close.

    Here radio check sound here

here is the fan noise coming from the air/heat motor

    Here Fan sound here

I've all so noticed when I key up the mic the needle is staying fairly low , does this make a huge difference
    Any help would be appreciated

Oh Ive all so tried using RF Chokes on the power side of the fan and everything is grounded.

    Any ideas?

Need to find a good ground... This usually cures noise problems.

Battery ground usually not a good place to start if you have a noise, but if you grounded it to the frame then that should of helped. let me look around and see if I can find some info...

You need to ground it to an unpainted surface...

Just select the search option above.. Enter in CB noise..... select "CB radio forum" on the right. And a bunch of previous post that people made will appear and you can look threw them to see if you can find a solution..

No Ive tried this even ran the ground to the frame and grounded it there did same thing.
Ive all so performed a search and most all are ignition noise which is not the same and none were macks.

Ive contacted several cb shops and they all seem to start with a solution but soon as you tell them its a Mack Dump truck they say I might have to live with it. Ive asked about 7 other drivers with similar macks and they ALL have the exact same problem.

I was hoping maybe someone here might have a solution that I didn't yet think of. It appears I might be stuck with the noise.

I was told to try to wrap the fan in something that may repel the RF signal and might try that.

Well the Coax is not insulated from outside RF... It is just weather protected.. May look into this...
