City Trailer sure is a good deal, isn't it? Complete parts department, truck and trailer repair, body work, and drivers lounge. Secured parking is cheap. I just wish they would pave the yard.

City Paint Works has me on a preferred customer basis. They know they will be doing the rest of the body work, even doing some troubleshooting on an electrical issue this morning for free.

Time to TCB, hit the bunk and wait for a dispatch. Work comes in surges.

 

My company seems to be pretty happy with city trailer. We buy all our trailers from them. We don't lease parking from them though.

 

Where's the driver lounge? Does it happen to have showers? I know that's a long shot..

 

It's the first building on the right as you roll in the gate. Showers, TV room, and laundry ($1.50 but bring your own quarters).

 

I can second you boys on the oil fields picking up. All of my buddies know I farm, and most of them know I keep my Hazmat current as a backup plan.

Every time I run into one of my friends, they ask if I'm back in the oil fields yet.

Many of you right here reading this are doing exactly that. . . running trucks to pay for the farm until milk or crop prices come back up.

And I am proud to call you friends and collegues.

2008 International Workstar with a Maxxforce and 5 speed Allison. Could barely get to 70mph when it hit the rev limiter.

Fourth trip down the drain. Made it back early afternoon today rather than 8-9pm. Was told this was going to be my last week, as they can't afford to go another week without me in my normal city/regional position.

And while I really liked the money (almost 40% more per day pay) and loved the fast-paced nature of the run, I hated sleeping in the truck for 3 nights and being away from home.

Granted, they are giving it to an older highway driver who I don't think will be prepared for the physical nature of the run (he's been complaining about issues handling tarps, not sure how he is going to handle hand-bombing 50-70 pound bundles of mouldings) but I am relieved that I will finally be fully back in my regional flat deck position. They even hired a new bulk driver, so that's off my plate as well.

And it's starting to warm too, so it couldn't be better timing to be back to normal. Can't wait to see what curve balls they throw me this summer.

 

It's an Impeller for a water pump. It's heading off to I believe Thailand or someplace over there. There are 11 of these total that we've been shuttling around town getting machining and balance work done. This is the last.

I believe the system it is intended for is setup to actually pump live fish further upstream or inland to make it less of a burden on local villages to travel for fishing.

Unlike most of the impellers I run into this one has really curved and smooth edges to prevent killing fish. Normally they are super sharp to cut through water more efficiently.
