I recently bought an old 87 model K/W w900. Most everything was working and thought that was pretty good due to the age, but after I gave it a little bath nothing really major a good spraying. Now the speedo, tact, fuel gauge, jake and volt gauge have stopped working, all other gauges work fine.
I pulled all the fuses none found blown. I've checked the wiring but over the years...well there some I have no idea where they go or if they are of any use.
So any suggestion, ideas or what to check?
Thanks Jeff

Did you spray the fuse box with water?

Any chance some water could have gotten through the firewall and shorted something? The easiest way to find out about the random wires would be to trace them and see where they go, if everything was working before you washed then the wires hanging would not be the issue, but it would be wise to get them up out of there to keep from an electrical fire.

Try swapping the relays in the fuse box two by two. Look at the condition of the connectors while you are there.

Where is the fuse/relay box on an '87?
On my '80 there are about half a dozen connectors on the driver's side of the firewall where 90% of the wiring comes through. If your B model is similar, check those plugs for water. -

Check those connectors NM is talking about, make sure your dash panels are grounded, then it's checking voltages. KW grounds a lot of relays through the switches to the dash panels.
Jeff G. Thanks this.
