I don't guess I'm familiar with the slip seating thing. IRT issued me a truck and I stay in it 24-7 unless I'm on home time for a few days where it's then parked somewhere near my house.

Some of the loaders will have some issue with their daycab and jump into one of the long-haul trucks. But instead of just using it for one night, they'll try to hold onto it since some of them go 5-10 mph than the daycabs. Especially with some of these dairies being about an hour or more out, it cuts down drastically on turnaround times.
But, I'm just past the point of playing around with it and would rather just be putting my doubles/triples endorsement to use.

I see. So the long haul trucks they're using for spares are empty trucks? Or are they assigned trucks that just happen to be there due to drivers being on home time or something? I guess if it's the latter and the truck they're borrowing is assigned to a driver, I could see how that would affect a man returning to work and not being able to leave out. But if they're just spare trucks I'm not following you on how it's keeping anyone from working.

No shame in moving on if you're unhappy. I have more respect for guys like you who do that than ones who complain all the time but yet never switch jobs. Hope you find something that works out.

Just a heads up to anyone on here who ever runs from Vegas up 93 to where I-80 is in Wells, NV... be prepared for a whole lot of nothing and that nothing also includes phone signal if you're with Verizon. I did that going up to Washington last week. It's pretty and a relaxing drive, but secluded. If you stop to take a leak anywhere, keep an eye out for rattlesnakes since it's the desert too. The dead head was 929 miles from Henderson, NV to Prosser, WA. Then 284 empty to Salem, OR and 3,088 down to Arcadia, Florida from there. Those loads I hauled from Texas to Utah were good 849 mile loads too. On those I ran 40 to Flagstaff then up Highway 89 which is another scenic trip up there in Northern Arizona as you're working your way into Utah. I've lucked out and haven't had to throw iron at all this Winter, and I even ran I-70 from Utah to Denver last month. Had some slush around Vail but it was pretty dry climbing up to the Eisenhower Tunnel. Be safe.

By the way things have been going, I would say that it's a truck belonging to a driver that just happened to be on home-time. In that case, bad timing between both drivers and lots of headaches.
As for moving along, I'm going to continue doing the job as best as possible until I find some worthy iron to strike. Just one of those cases I've had where the "honeymoon" period has ended with the company and now all the negatives are coming into light all at once.
Take the good with the bad, yes. But too much of the bad all at once gets a little too unnerving.

Definitely remember those runs from my long-haul days with Western Express. A few times, the dispatch there tried to route me from Portland to Kingman by taking the 5 most of the way, then jumping on the 58 to the 40. I found a series of truck legal highways that eventually led to the 95 was shorter in distance and much more of a treat than the pock-marked 5. Some good times.

I understand. A few things I do to ensure good miles...I always call and ask for a preplan ahead of my delivery so that I can turn and burn. When I'm on the phone with them I don't get pushy or #####y. If there's a pause in the conversation while a dispatcher is checking the computer I sometimes drop the question light spokenly "ya got anything on there with any distance? Or do you have any kind of long hauls pulling out of my area?" I do that so they know I'm chasing miles and eager to work. If they say not really and give me a short hop I still keep a good attitude and know that I can't always have my way. Angel Sr and Randy have been real good to me in the past with miles and work. Randy knows his stuff when it comes to dispatching, and I will say if I ever develop a problem getting miles or get unhappy I would probably call him and ask him to help fix the problem. I think he has his heart into the company and would try to fix the issue. I try to take things as they come and maximize my 70 hours. Most of the dispatchers here at IRT usually work with you if you speak up and ask.

Made to Florida from Oregon. It's always nice when you drive 3,000 plus miles all so that at the end of it you simply drop and hook. I grabbed a clean tank at the yard in Winter Haven and am now loading to go 1,110 miles to Waco, Texas.
