I know exactly what your saying lol.... there is a gray area in which some fall under. And a freind falls in that area, he blows black smoke with a 425 mechanical Cat in a 1979 W900A every week. Cali and back all the time pulling steel. But some think you "have to have" a certain truck to do a job. Be safe out there.

Yes, I live in Las Vegas. Deadhead either to central California or southern California to pickup loads when leaving home from hometime

You could do your big cam for under 2500. And it's easy as long as you have half a brain. That's a basic inframe, not new injectors and turbo, etc etc.

Well ladies & gents I must go now. Have this Walmart load I have to deliver now and wait at the dock for 3-4 hrs to get unload. Not to fond of walmart loads! Be safe!

That explains your feelings of running CA. If you lived in the Midwest, you would probably be downright giddy to not have to run there.

I'm from California, and I didn't realize what a miserable place it is to drive a truck until I moved from there! Scales always open, no weigh in motion, etc. Now that I know better, except for maybe getting lunch with friends in family, I have no desire to drive a truck there.

Yes trucking is a business.. but have you ever thought these guys that are driving these "waste of moneys" Long hoods are in it cause its their dream??? or its their way of life and passion to own and drive one.. Sometimes Prestige of these trucks can out way the cost of them... I would rather make less money a year and drive a 379 or w900l than make more and drive a truck that looks like everyone else... Long as I am paying my bills and have money for family what does it matter??.. Can't take it with yeah.... It costs to look cool and thats a bill I will pay...

Converted this Big Cam 4 to hi flow, has a in-frame kit in it as well. New injectors, water pump, thermostat, accessory drive bushing and seal. Still less than $3500 but every thing you add makes the price go up, such as turbo, pump, crank etc.
