That's my approach as well. I stop at the line and then ease forward until I can clearly see traffic.
While I'm not defending the idiots who knowingly block a trucker's ability to make a turn, I think we need to recognize that those of us sitting in an automobile do not have the same vantage point as someone sitting up in the cab of a truck. We can rarely see over bushes and shrubs -- and in my particular instance, signs -- placed too close to an intersection. I'm assuming that a trucker, sitting in the exact same place would be able to see clearly over top such obstructions.
Why do 4-wheelers do this?

And you know what? We shouldn't need to get the law involved. Whatever happened to plain ol' courtesy. That's really at the heart of the matter.
It's just one more symptom of our "me first" society.
AfterShock and Scarecrow03 Thank this. -
Just the other day, on a two lane frontage road, a car turning onto it decided to play chicken. No seriously, we were in left lane prepping to turn left at the light, the car pulls onto the road, stays in right lane, speeds up to about 100 mph, leaps out in front of us to cross the left lane into the highway entrance, instead of just getting behind us. He had to cross the shoulder lines to get into the entrance.

YuP!
I hear there's one of those types born every minute.
And some of them get driver's licenses.
How foolish is that?
Do y'all remember what they told us in drivin' school?
As professional drivers, y'all will be expected to drive THEIR cars, as well as your Big truck --- at the same time.
They weren't kiddin'.
Were they?

-
They darn sure weren't kiddin'. I know that a lot of drivers get fed up with it. Of course I never do. (If ya believe that then I've got a whole truckload of motorcycle doors to sell ya...CHEAP!!!)

Regardless of how annoying and irritating it is, our behaviors behind the wheel of these big trucks is what dictates whether we're professional drivers or just a 4-wheeler with a CDL, more commonly called a steering wheel holder. We're kinda like parents of the motoring public. We've gotta watch over everyone else. How many times have any of y'all predicted what a particular vehicle was gonna do long before he/she did it? That ain't no accident. Err...at least I hope it wasn't.

Hey, Scarecrow, how many motorcycle doors can you fit in a truck? What size truck you got those in?
Isn't it wonderful that truck drivers have to do the thinking for the 4-wheelers?Scarecrow03 Thanks this. -
WoW!
This just might be my lucky day.
Do you have any gull-wing doors for a Gold Wing?
Preferably with tinted, electric windows, --- but I'd still
be interested in the crank-up windows, --- if the crank handles
are chromed.
I'm also in the market for a motorcycle air conditioner, soooo --
if you know anyone sellin' one, lemmie know?
Scarecrow03 Thanks this. -
