The Best CB Microphone-CB World www. Wearecb.com. checkout information here its covered pretty good, me personally I like using the Ranger sra 198 ,Astatic 636, or the new Palomar SL 41, they are all noise canceling mics, I have tried power mics before and the only one I have liked is the RF Limited Extreme 2018.

I have a couple of the old 148's, I prefer the old telex rk56 on mine, while mobile. Thats just my preference. Any of the above mentioned n/c mics will sound good. Just a matter of what sounds best with your voice.
As far as power mics, I like the astatic road devils. Nice clarity, while n/c as well.

Im guessing you have a older Road Devil because the new ones are a piece of junk. I bought one about a year ago and tried to use it with BC 980 but every time I would key up it would make a scratching noise unless you squeezed the ptt lever as hard as you could, I think Astatic went to a really cheap ptt mechanism, so now it sits in my mic collection never to be used again, what a waste of $ 40.00.

I have a older Cobra 148 gtlf ( side mic ) that the last time I used it I would use the Cobra power mic set on level 5 and believe it or not sounded really good, but of course the radio isnt all hacked up so probably most any quality mic would sound good.

I've used, and have heard both, (old and new)and didnt notice a difference. But I know there are quality issues with the newer ones..so im not suprised you had issues with the one you have/had.

A buddy of mine uses one of the cobra power mics on his 29 classic, hg35 I think it is, and it actually sounds really good. Even in the truck, there's very minimal background noise. Not bad at all for a cheap power mic.
Edit: its the hg-m75 power mic he uses.

You can get the Cobra power mic for under 30 bucks, and yes I still have the Road Devil, havn' t smashed it yet, thought about it though, lol!. Another power mic that just didnt work was the superstar 452 piwer/ echo mic. There is an internal modulation adjustment and I just couldnt get it set right, not even on a bone stock cobra 29, it might work well on a radio like a cobra 19 that doesnt have a mic gain control.

Order a can of Deoxit D5, spray that into the switch and push it in repeatedly and rapidly.

Deoxit D5 is the best contact cleaner available.

if you're good with a soldering iron you can bypass the factory switch and mount your own switch in the side of the case.
