I'm guessing the truck stop was the Ayr Flying J and the trucks and bobtails were Hyndman.

If that is the case I'll give you some reasons this might happens. The new lot is too tight so you can't sit connected to the trailer while sleeping. Wifi can't reach the trucks so if you subscribe to Flying J wifi its better then sitting in your truck. Food, I like to eat at big papa's when they're open (Hate their new hours). Showers, the yard does have showers but some prefer to not deal with their own towel and actually want it to be disinfected after each person showers. (Though that J's showers have poor water pressure.)

Normally I try to grab a trailer and get out to the onroute about 30 minutes away if I have the available hours so not to waste my hours.

Too bad Hyndman did not think more about the drivers when building thier new terminal. I saw what you meant this week when I went by during daylight hours, man that yard is tight, it looks like they may have already out grown the space before being there a year.

I felt guilty for staying at the Flying J in Ayr with Mill Creek being part of the Kriska Transportation Group. I plan to ask my Driver Service Rep about what the policy is regarding staying in the yard at Mill Creek. Hopefully we can stay there even just to park as it is only a short walk across the street to the J to grab a shower or to eat.

Hi, @flyguy35 nice post! I'm just starting into dispatching myself. Trying to learn a lot and trying to establish good relationships with the drivers I work with.
One thing that I've seen a lot is the "####ty loads" concept. Because the Dispatchers don't want to send bad loads to drivers, but sometimes is all that can be found, especially when you work in the OnSpot Market.
I've been trying to look for tools or software that could help me do more Load Planning. In the sense of helping me choose from a big chunk of data what's the best load or series of loads. But haven't quite found anything. It would be great to have tools that could help you increase Rate x Mile through planning better.
Any thoughts on that? Have you seen something on the Planning side?

@orcen I think a s###ty load is one that doesn't pay a good Rate x Mile, or that leaves you in a dead end, or that has very strict time windows for pickup or delivery, or that has warehouses that are in terrible conditions for pickup or delivery... Or at least that's what the Drivers tell me.
    Am I wrong?
