dont hear much on channels but static

    Same old story coax dosn't care if you want the best out of your radio you don't trim coax you FIX the antenna up right ....

    As already mentioned,that ground he added is a dead short.That radio will never work with that setup.
    Radio shack antennas are junk,sorry to say.

    A Wilson magnetic mount would be a huge improvement.

    I buy Wilson antennas on Amazon.com....much less expensive than any truck stop or CB shop.

    This is a great antenna...I have one on my pick up and my Galaxy talks really good with it,

    The Wilson 1000 magnetic is a larger version and works great too.I own both of them.

    Both come with the correct length of coax and are easy to set SWR.

    63 inch wip is a good length .....

    BTW ....

    UNless they are using the coax as a groundplane the length of coax should not matter using the coax to tune a antenna is a bad idea ....

    If you have a magnetic antenna it will pick up better than the other ones if your putting it on a vehicle. Because we just had to buy a magnetic antenna to get it to work. We talked to a truck driver today and he suggested it.

    Magnetic antennas work very well, provided there is adequate metal for a ground plane to stick it on.
