I remember when they began creating predictive text still using the alpha numeric.tucker Thanks this.
-
I doubt I ever sent a text back then , but I was at a bar in Jersey and all the waitresses sent someone aHappy Birthday message doing it that way.
They were like a bunch of chickens pecking,
And on Twitter the comments that they didn't understand it were , odd -
Yet many will try to explain how easy it is, or how safe they are.....

Shame when truck drivers are at risk outside of the cab. This was today in Florida. RIP

Never stop on the shoulderBig Don and OLDSKOOLERnWV Thank this.

Wow, that scene was a mess. They phrased the title so that it sounded like the car hauler caused the accident, or at least that's what I thought when I initially read it. Sometimes I wonder if that's done on purpose.OLDSKOOLERnWV Thanks this.

Came up I-65 in Alabama about
On my way home from Alabama about 5 yrs ago, seen a van trailer setting on the south bound side. Just like the car hauler he was parked on the side. Something red looking was sticking out from under the back of the trailer, I later found out it was a Corvette, what is it with people running across the line? Distraction? Drivers sure don't need to be around the left side or rear of their trailer when and if they need to pull over, sometimes you can't help it. -
I didn't get that out of the headline at all. It just says the crash involved the truck, not that it was the trucker's fault. It is undeniable that it did involve the truck.
My feeling is that as long as the truck is physically able to move, you get to a place where you can get clear off of the road. Whether it be an off/on ramp, or even a wide spot like you see across Nevada, put there to allow trucks to get away from the freeway.
However, as you say, sometimes it just can't be helped.Lepton1, tinytim, OLDSKOOLERnWV and 1 other person Thank this. -
Kansas City Star has been a warrior for Drivers these last 20 plus years. I remember reading many articles from there particulary with the upcoming proposals to change the 10 hour driving rule.
I don't trust anyone around me on that highway. I eyeball everything. ex takes care of the cell phone calling etc. All I do is drive same as I have been for almost 38 years since I had a license.
Now that does not say I did not use the qualcomm typing in my lap at 80 mph or whatever. She is riding in the grooves of the interstate and will stay put without any input of steering. No need to pull off and type as they require you to do today. Or telling off a CH Robinson broker to call my dispatcher instead of bothering my cell phone on 5 in California. You want that load there or not? Scram. Im driving. (They hate me)
Today's stuff in the new cars is amazing. But I see alot of nanny tech in there too because the new millenails wont do any basic driving anymore. They want cars to drive themselves so they can text away or whatever. I don't want any part of that. NO.OLDSKOOLERnWV and Big Don Thank this.
