Refused my first load today

I know for a fact that the safety director of a large Iowa based flatbed carrier has had the ear of Gerdau's safety director in the past. Did no good whatsoever.

 

Just curious, how far did you take that? How smooth was the ride? And... How tight was the front/bottom strap when you got there?

Edit: I meant the two front straps that are pushing in from the outside top corners of the bundles more than they are pushing down... Nothing stopping the bundles from walking together.

 

I certainly could have done it differently/better, that's for sure. Mad at myself more than anything for allowing it in the first place.

Let's see...loaded outside of Dallas and delivered in Kansas City. First load check had multiple loose straps, so reworked it by incorporating the "weaving" technique.

After that nothing moved and it rode just fine. All the bundles were wrapped together at various points so it acted like one giant piece.

The picture was taken at delivery location and the bundles are spaced just like they were loaded. All told I think it was 4" straps x 12 and 2" x 6.

 

So did that iowa carrier refuse to haul loads for them because they were not loading trucks right? Or did they continue to pull them anyway?

 

I'm curious who this large Iowa based carrier is

Good guess Peelsession! I didn't agree with the decision. But, it was above my pay grade.
