2 year old brake cans. I caged it and rolled on.
My Q is, since it's caged I can take it apart with it exploding correct? Gonna put a new pancake in it.

If caged you can change the pancake on the service side. The park side isnt suppose to be changeable. No more than the price difference your better off with a new chamber.

If you blew a pancake on a maxibrake chamber,you would have an air leak when you step on the brake pedal.That's where your pancakes are,service side.Caging it won't have any effect on the operation now,it will still leak.If your rolling with a blown pancake,you better get it repaired pronto,you're compromising your whole brake system.You are correct to cage it to change the pancake,just make sure you take the correct clamp off when you do it.

Oh, your right. It's not changeable. It's the emergency side leaking, I caged it and removed the line capped it off, the service brakes are fine. I was thinking it would be easier/quicker to change the pancake but new can it is. Thanks.

Yes,that's the correct thing to do if you've blown the emergency side seal in the can.Nothing in there you want to fool with,dangerous spring.I used to put a rivet in the air line fitting,cage the can and go,when I had that happen.

taking all 4 pos TRP cans off,putting 4 haldex anchorlok lifeseals on. so i don't have to cage my brakes and cap off air lines in the rain at 2am again any time soon.
