You're comparing two completely different specs. You can't and never have been able to get a 2050tq D13 truck motor.
Even comparing the old 1850tq D13 vs D16 you can look at the power graph and see why that D16 was stronger, it was set to carry more HP at a given TQ than the D13....
It's all in the software ... Mechanically the D13 is stronger but emissions regulate how "hot" the ecm can be set on the power curve... -
I said both were 500 horse 1850 torque

Yes... Read my post about how the ECM power curve was set for emissions
-
Bring the bottom end timing up 3-5% and add 500-800us on injector pulse and you'll walk right by the D16
-
I could advance the timing and mess with the fuel tables on my d12 and have it out pull my c15 too but is this something they are doing from factory?
-
I'm saying the D13 is capable of doing all the D16 can but the emissions handicap the ratings.
The new motors come on stronger and earlier than the old ones. Every generation is getting better. -
I can agree with that for sure. Who knows, maybe working the crap out of a d13 and keeping it nice and hot will keep the emission system in better shape. My 08 isx has 1.7 million km and hauled 140k it's whole like, I believe it's the gearing giving it a cruising rpm of 1600 keeping it hot.
-
Yeah that seems to be the going theory on keeping these modern emissions systems happy.
daf105paccar Thanks this.
