lol much speculation among those of us fueling but nobody really could put together a scenario how that could happen unless it was just driven into or backed into on purpose. The area behind the fuel lanes is pretty big.

I asked inside but the girl behind the counter either didn't want to talk about it or had been told not to. She immediately changed the subject.

Why all the secrecy? Must've been an inside job. How bout it PFJ tanker drivers? I know the Effingham fuel island is shaped like a V having you exit the fuel lane to the left or right. Not sure about the other ones posted. Perhaps those drivers went the other way and took it out with their tail swing. Why they didn't clear the pumps first and why they are cutting it so hard, I haven't the slightest clue. Just a theory anyhow. Who knows with some of these guys.

To the original post. I think we missed something here.

I can answer that. My wife runs a gas station back home. One of her locals come in drunk one night and took out one of the steel island protectors that are on the ends. Guy had an f350 with one of those massive heavy duty ranch hand livestock grill protectors. The cost to replace the pump was $12,867. That's for the pump, installation, and recertifying the pump and connections. The steel protector was another $8000.

I believe your typical gasoline dispensers are around 10k for the unit if I recall. No clue about these but I'm sure it's in the same ballpark. Used to have a friend who installed them but I dont have his number anymore.
