At home. Spending the next few days going through the ton of paperwork and such for the job change. ICA didn't seem terribly upset with my notice. I was as diplomatic about it as possible, but honest about why I was outta here.

The J in McCammon, ID. Probably the 5th time Ive been here in 2 weeks. Been running out and back from slc anf ots been wonderful. Lotta snow, but wonderful. No traffic, my favorite customers, easy loads and unloads......except for the frozen solid external valve yesterday....
If my job stayed like this, I wouldnt leave.
But my math, and HOS challenged dispatcher thought that I had enough of being happy and instead of resetting at home, obvioulsy a run that I can't finish on time, to Tulsa, would be in my best interests.Last edited: Mar 10, 2017
SingingWolf and AM14 Thank this. -
Haa. I was worried he might be a friend of yours or something. To be fair or realistic whatever you want to call it, I understand that it is next to impossible to walk into a dedicated office and be able to understand the way we do things, the tendencies of certain customers, etc. in three week's time. Not understanding a thing about trucking, routes, and HOS is another thing. I can certainly understand why most of the OTR drivers don't stick around too long with planners like that. Not the whiners that get mad that they can't only drive 300 miles a day and grow moss at the Denny's lunch counter all night but the guys who truly gave it their all and wound up being driven crazy. @Waggledaddy comes to mind.
My new DBL who is still acting as a planner since we dont have one is far from perfect but she has never sent me a wrong appointment time or just said "do what you can" and nothing more when there was a legitimate problem with an assignment. Schneider, you need to hire more people like that who are actually willing to look up from their computer screen and look a frustrated man in the eyes when he has something to say. Hopefully she comes back before our old hands clean out their trucks like they are threatening. Drivers talk send rant, I know, but there's a few of the last good ones we have left that are pretty darn serious about it. I guess that's the trend though. No point in keeping the 3-4 million milers around when you can pay a student half. Then when they fail, the guys in the middle get to rescue all those loads while still trying to cover their own work. God, I need to get out on the lake and throw out some lines.SingingWolf Thanks this. -

Sleeping at my 2nd drop in Buffalo. Ya know, the place I drove past within 150 yards of this morning to get to the 1st stop in Rochester. Those 2 pallets took nearly 4 1/2 hours to unload somehow. The poor guy's at the 2nd stuck around for me to get there. They close at 12 and I didn't arrive until 1:15. Both stops are the same company. Apparently there's animosity between the two. Always fun to be stuck in the middle.
Needless to say, no chance of getting home today anymore. On the plus side, I'm parked right next to Cabelas. When life gives you lemons, buy more fishing crap. I think it goes something like that.gentleroger, milehunter43, 91B20H8 and 3 others Thank this. -
Back at the house. Well actually out to dinner but still. Have to report to duty Monday at 1100. Fingers crossed.

Rest area east of greem river utah. I love it here. I got to talk with a flatbedder from costa rica and really enjoyed our conversation. Had a great workout and ate way too much junk food today.
Got so PO'd at my dispatcher that I told him I was looking for a new job. He drove down to the tankwash, from the office to talk with me but I was in furious chris mode amd eanted nothing to do with him.
He is honestly a nice guy but the HOS, and math skills elude him. Then add a horrible lack of communication about all things......I stress eat. Im going to be 500 lbs in the next 2 months, I swearAM14 Thanks this.
