If you don't have much snow experience don't start learning it in the mountains shut it down and wait it out load be ######... If you do have plenty of snow experience and you feel comfortable with the conditions you still need to know how to chain just in case the next safe haven is to far down the road to make without chains... Chain to get out the #### down chain to get in it.

I'm ehh in snow. I could use a bit more miles on snow. I'm stopping in Reno bwfore I hit donner and checking #### out. If it's chain required I'm going to bed. I'm not gunna learn to throw iron to start up donner. I'll wait it out.
Altho I did check a little while ago, for cast looks good till monday. If Wyoming doesn't doesn't slow me down much I plan on hitting donner sunday -
Mountains themself don't worry me. I spend most of my days on east coast mountains. There steep in some places but not that long.
I've played in the mountains in the south west before (new Mexico comes to mind with the continental divide and those) I've just never ran the "scary" mountains let alone in winter. -
Good plan you should still learn for jsut Incase I once had to chain. 2 miles from.customer interstate was great surface streets had been neglected... Had to come to a stop in front a hill could not build enoug momentum to climb it spun out through chain right there for the first time ever in the real world sure was glad I practiced it a few times was cold and wet when I got done just through the 2 one on each side front drive took me 10 minutes

I'm not even sure I have all the chains for max chain...
I just grabbed a hand full of chains and threw them in my box becuase I'm legally required to have them out here. Most of our trucks don't come out this far normally.x1Heavy Thanks this. -
While I'm thinking about this, wyoming, do they have signs advising of high wind conditions like they have for dust storms in New Mexico and arizona? Or do I have to check there 511?

Oh those are tourists. Visiting the largest truckstop on the planet. I might be one of them some day it's not too far I reckon, a day's drive a change. I'll need to find a RV soemwhere to rent, not buy to make that happen.
