Eight months experience. On track to make 80k+ this year. How? Pretty simple really. First, I quit my first job working for a mega. Found a smaller company where I could stand out and then proceeded to bust my butt. I'm on time, safe, courteous to shippers and receivers clean and professional. In just two months in my current job I was assigned the premiere run in the company. 6450 mile loop that never ends. Time off if and when I want it and the respect of my owner, dispatcher and fellow drivers. I didn't need a union and I certainly didn't need Wal Mart, I just went to work and got the job done.

I said all this to make the point that there are drivers available that will work their tails off...just not under the circumstances the OP described.

Fast? Not really, the driver just keeps the left door closed and watches the money roll in, but I sure as hell wouldn't do it on a 1099 with no benefits...that's just stupid to expect.

I was thinking you was trying to say you drove 6450 miles a week.

Why not UPS Freight? UPS Freight and UPS Parcel are both under the same umbrella of United Parcel Service.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

UPS parcel is a whole different operation with a different contract. UPS parcel has one of the best Teamster contracts
In the country. UPS bought Overnite and renamed it UPS freight and operate under a whole different set of rules concerning pay and retirement .

When I was just a driver, Guys like me would appreciate this, and would earn my respect. Especially during the holidays when money was tight, my boss would always make sure we got a bonus equal to one of my regular checks sometimes more, and that made Christmas for my family. In addition, it set us off on the right foot for the New Year, work hard get paid.

What is wrong with you people. There is no driver shortage! There is however a shortage of quality drivers (for those interested in and willing to pay for good drivers) and steering wheel holders sought by the megas. For the op: your business plan appears to be ill conceived and is definitely poorly executed. You want quality drivers and then pay on a 1099. Just my opinion.

Me and apparently a lot of others as I know companies out here in the Lancaster area that pays on a 1099 with no insurance and they have no trouble filling the seats of those 379/389 Petes and yes a Pete is the best truck out there followed by a w900.
