Day 4: Today was back in the classroom for coupling/uncoupling, pre-trip inspection and my personal nemesis logbooks. I know how to fill them out but when he puts a log on the board for us to tell if its good or bad is still confusing a little. I think I have a good idea now but for a while I was totally drawing a blank.
We grilled some food for lunch and then it was out to hook up to some trailers and pull them around the yard and through cones. Sadly, a few of the cones did not survive the day. RIP cones. I did pretty good but definitely need more practice judging distances and angle. I guess practice is the name of the game.
I really wish the class was smaller to get more one on one instruction but luckily this is like a refresher for me but if I was coming in blind I wouldn't feel comfortable at all. There are 8 guys in our class when I heard it would be 6. Its not that big of deal just definitely think on class size smaller is better.
I was chosen to be on the first group going to Wisconsin. We leave out Monday morning and come back Thursday or Friday. Really excited about that and going out on the road here in Eden tomorrow. I'm glad to get away from my roommate for the week as he has a bad habit of waking me up after midnight coming in every night. I aint here to party and go out I'm here to start my career. Oh well, its only for a short time. I'm out to get some dinner and rest up for tomorrow.

When learning uncoupling I hope they taught you guys to leave the landing gear off the ground then dropping. Stop cranking 2-3 inches before they touch. These spring ride trailers wind up high dropped when they get loaded because too many people crack the landing gear down all the way.

Day 5: Today the first group heading to Wisconsin hit the road after going over the pre-trip first thing. We each drove about 50 miles on highway and city streets. I had a couple tight turns but did well. Downshifting is still a work in progress but I'm sure I will have it down soon. The rest of the class was on the range practicing backing.
I drove home after school today and after sitting in traffic for about an hour on I-40 West I made it home to Mama, the kids and a recliner! I will be headed back to Eden either Sunday night or VERY early Monday morning. The 4 of us heading to Wisconsin are leaving at 4 AM Monday. Until next time, take care!FalconsFan21 and Broke Down 69 Thank this. -
