Yes, I'm ready to roll. Just waiting to see what this weather does to decide if I come back up Sunday afternoon or early Monday morning. It was nice to sleep a full night last night without him waking me up at midnight. Nobody likes a brown-noser! LOL

Since I will be away from school this week drving to Cartersville, GA then to Black River Falls, WI I will most likely not be updating this thread until Friday. I am looking forward to it most definitely.
I do have a question about Rewards cards at truck stops. Should I get these before going out with my trainer or is that something we will do once on the road? Thanks in advance.Broke Down 69 Thanks this. -
You will probably only benefit from them once you get your own truck. Your trainer will probably use his cards. He can get a team shower credit off his card. That way you can get one free as well. Occasionally my trainer let me use my card when we bought fuel for the truck.
I have always preferred the Pilot/FlyingJ card. Mostly because you could use it as a debit card in a way. One of the companies I drove for in the past (before pilot and flying j merged and T/A and Petro merged). I only could fuel at Pilot. So after a couple weeks. I could have 10 or 20 dollars worth of points. At the register. I would just have them scan the card and get free stuff. I haven't used T/A in many years. Actually since Petro acquired them. Their system worked different. You could only get 5, 10, 20, etc dollar vouchers. They would print out from their touch screen kiosk. It is also where you request showers from. So if you are a couple points/dollars away from the $5 voucher. You would have to wait until you had enough to reach that level. Now considering that I haven't used T/A / Petro in several years. I don't know if that is still their system. I wouldn't see why they would change it. Anything is possible really.SESteve83 Thanks this. -
We don't use ta or petro anymore. The pilot and loves card you can just pick up at the fuel desk the first time you get fuel.

Week 2 of school for me started at 4 AM Monday when one instructor and 4 students set off for Cartersville, GA then up to Black River Falls, WI to bring some stuff back to Eden, NC.
I drove 2 hours the first day through Atlanta at rush hour! I also got to back the trailer in at the terminal and hook up to the empty we were taking to Wisconsin. We ate at Cracker Barrel and then went to hotel to sleep to be up and gone by 2 AM the next morning.
Tuesday we got going at 2 AM and I drove first and that meant rain/fog over Monteagle Mountain in Tennessee. That was white knuckle for sure but wasn't as bad as I thought. I drove through Nashville then enjoyed the ride the rest of the day through KY, IL and WI. Really enjoyed the scenery even though it was pretty much farmland, windmills and at dusk more deer than I've ever seen in my life. We ate at Culver's and the Walleye Sandwich was delicious. First time I've ever eaten walleye and glad I tried it.
Wednesday while the shop in Black River Falls was painting the hoods we brought up we took a load of tires over to Richfield, WI. We each drove about 1.5 hours on the back roads through small downtown streets. It gave me the opportunity to get tons of shifting practice in tight spots and I think I did pretty well, just need to be smoother on clutch and brake at times. We ate dinner at a place called Re Pete's and the teriyaki wings were AMAZING.
The last day we left around 10 and drove back to Eden, NC through Chicago, Indianapolis, Dayton and West Virginia mountains.I nominated myself to drive first to take advantage of the long, straight and flat highways of Wisconsin and Norther Illinois.
Overall I had a good time and glad I got to get the experience in. Met the owner of the company and all the people at headquaters and I've never experienced that at any company I've worked for. I'm tired as you can imagine sleeping in the student truck last night and driving home this morning. I'm off to enjoy the recliner and some cold Granite Falls Brewery local beer!
