Interesting stuff.
The article was published in 2015. I wonder if there have been any amendments to the law since that time...? My guess is no because most company drivers are paid by the mile, hourly, or combination so the subject rarely comes up.
The author contends companies should give W4 employees documents to help maintain driver satisfaction and reduce turnover.
Unfortunately, the same companies who hide behind this law - if it's still current - are the same low lifes who believe a new batch of fresh meat is only a craigslist ad away.

I drive on percentage and have no complaints. My company tells me the rate to the truck with dispatch info every load.Lepton1 Thanks this.

We have had many drivers walk away because the company refuses to disclose a rate sheet. We haul along with other companies on the same loads. We are the lowest paid drivers of all companies hauling those leases. Once I have 6 months crude hauling experience I'm walking away as well.
No rate sheet=bottom feeders.Lepton1 Thanks this. -
Interesting... now, if they showed you the complete rate sheet, and it turns out they were being honest with you (and just hauling cheap) would you then stay because they were honest??
Some companies haul cheap. Haul the same #### out of the same place for a lower rate. Every carrier doesn’t work for the same rates.
25% of $100 = $25
30% of $75 =$22.50
3 loads a week at $300 driver pay, or 4 loads a week at $275 driver pay- who made more?
Ever thing in life ain’t apples to apples.PoleCrusher, spyder7723, mp4694330 and 2 others Thank this. -
We have had many drivers [do you mean owners and not drivers?] walk away because the company refuses to disclose a rate sheet. We haul along with other companies on the same loads. We are the lowest paid drivers of all companies hauling those leases [Owner leased to the company?]

If that all it was,but the lies and fairy tales are endless. Most of the trucks are broke down every other day and the mechanics work in the dirt with no shop and no money to buy parts.
We have lost 3 good accounts since I've been there. All we have now are BS low paying runs.
The owner is a narcissistic fat bald dude with a top fuel dragster that just got a new paint job.
There is a was unicorn tied out front of the gingerbread house with rainbow reins the day I applied. 6 months and I'm out.

Company drivers. They won't do O/O.
They lost oil leases because the tanks were always in the red.
I had to sign a non disclosure promising not to post anything derogatory on social media or other websites. -
Shops and parts are hard to come by out there. Correct?
I found the only shop in town. There was a 6 week wait to get in the door. Let alone fix.Lepton1 Thanks this. -
They have been bragging about building a $650,000 shop since 2013. They own they land but we work off a leased yard.
The story stinks like fish.
Housing is a bunch of RVs that should have been burned 20 years ago. -
The company I work for pays percentage and every load confirmation sheet shows what the load is paying. Most loads we are paid on the net tons of product we get loaded with (i.e. $70/ton) or it is a flat rate (rarely). On loads that I am paid per ton, it is up to me, the driver, to get as much product on the truck that I legally can to maximize my pay for the load.
The only thing I don’t see as a company driver is the FSC; O/O’s that run for them do see the FSC on the load sheet and receive 100% of the FSC.
I pull a 42’ bucket.
