I'm driving a 2015 Peterbilt 579. I have a Cobra 29 LTD Classic. I have a 4 foot fire stick one antenna. Had the cb for 3 months. When I put it in factory I was able to get out about one and a half miles. About a month ago I had it tuned at a CB shop, now I'm only getting out about a mile when I should be getting out more. It's odd that after the tune I get out less range than Factory. Not sure how far out on talking, put on hearing I'm only getting out about a mile if that. The person that tuned the Cb had the dyna mic rf gain and squelch maxed out. With help from someone online i got it adjusted the right way. I use the onboard SWR meter calibration to calibrate the antenna before and after the tune.. it wasn't done at the CB shop. But I've been told by some people that after the cobra 29s are tuned that the onboard SWR meter and calibration is not effective. Not sure what the issue is.

I would get the antenna system checked out by a reputable cb tech and see if that is the issue, even a stock radio should have at least a transmit and receive range of 3 to 5 miles on average so Im guessing antenna unless radio was bad from the start out of the box and cb tech didnt notice that. Did he check the radio after the tune on a meter, scope or spectrum analyzer to see if it was working properly?

He had me drop it off with him..only took him 15-20min to do it, so im not sure what he did. The truck im in is a used lease truck and they are supposed to have a dual antenna setup, but it has been converted to the drivers side being cb and passenger for tv..not sure if the wiring is screwed up..ill be getting a brand new truck in may, and even the new ones are dual ant setup for cb. But out of the box with the 4ft firestick i would only get out about 1.5 miles. So, not sure if the cb was screwed up during the tune, wiring, or antenna issue.

Try new coax. And have a cb shop check your swrs with a mfj or rig expert analyzer....

It won't matter what they use, if they don't know how to use it, it is just for show.
