To this point the shop has remained nameless so we really dont know if they are qualified to perform any radio work.

My Uniden PC76xl with the squelch taking care of most if not all static except a tiny hiss that is allowed. MIC Gain left alone, at most one notch and change, RF Gain until signal is decent. then backed down until just above a point at wich signal gets dirty again. Delta tune set until it matches antennas which happens to be a center notch for both and then left alone.

Nothing special on the radio except a direct patch into the hot 12 volt lines on the dash with fuses. One external speaker with a small amp is wonderful HOW BOUT YOU DAM EARPLUGS YOU GOT YOUR BATTERY IN?!

    lol./

19 miles or so give or take depending on sitauation.

That's who I think he is talking about. He is an excellent repairman/trouble shooter and has done it for years, but he tunes by the seat of his pants. Most are happy with his work. He is a nice guy and honest. I've known him for years but haven't been up there in a while now. The OP should go back by there and have him take a look. Pretty hard to gauge performance if you don't use somebody using the same radio, in the same location....like a base station, for your before and after comparisons. Plus coax or antenna could have developed a problem.....they always work good just before they go bad.:(

bored silly and wolverine11 Thank this.
