Am I making a mistake leaving Werner?

In fairness, even though I think that other website is a complete laughingstock filled with newbies, some of what they say is true. Every megacrap company has many drivers that have been there forever, and do very well.

If you have the the time to suffer thru crappy years, no miles and low pay you can get lucky and get on a good run

For the most part, they lie. Those people haven't really driven a million safe miles with Werner. They drove for someone else, and Werner credited them the mileage when they came to Werner. Most come to Werner out of desperation, after a long stint out of the industry, or a nasty divorce that cost them their home, or some such.

Look, Werner (like most of the mega-carriers) is full of scammy practices. Did you notice who writes your checks to you? It's Driver Management, LLC. They have no assets, and their only line of business is to provide driver labor to drive Werner's trucks. The probable purpose of this, is to isolate Werner's hard assets (trucks, real estate, and/or cash) from any lawsuits stemming from their treatment of drivers, or any accidents. If you or anyone you are involved with, decides to sue, you have no standing to sue Werner, since you are not employed by them, nor have any sort of agreement with them. You have to sue Driver Management, LLC. They probably consist solely of a rented office space and a Centrex phone system - no hard assets, except whatever is passing (briefly) through the payroll account. If they get sued, and it looks bad, they'll declare bankruptcy, and since payroll gets paid ahead of lawsuits, there will be virtually nothing left for the plaintiffs in a lawsuit. As a result, few attorneys would be willing to take on a class action suit against them, on a contingency compensation basis - and who would be likely to go out-of-pocket to do so, and lose everything, just to have them declare bankruptcy and cause the plaintiff to lose everything, even if they win their suit?

It's a corporate shell game, using the corporate shield to protect assets which they know would otherwise be at risk of loss in lawsuits that they know they would be likely to experience and lose, because they know that they are doing wrong by drivers, and the motoring public. You can't really beat these guys, and they can't be trusted if both you and they know that you can't beat them, even if you're right and they're wrong.

You don't try to beat the untrustworthy and untouchable... you avoid doing business with them. It's like borrowing money from the mob. You just don't do it. It's not your fault if they screw you, but it is eminently preventable. No one should do business with these kinds of companies - not drivers, not shippers or receivers - nobody.

But thousands of people do, every day, because they don't feel as though they have better options. You seem to have found a better option. Don't feel bad about pursuing it. You do you. They *will* take care of themselves. Most likely, at someone else's expense. I guarantee that they will do just fine, without you.
