I have noticed on my travels that businesses such as truck stop stores do not offer very many things in the way of "Big and Tall" clothing.

So, what happens when a driver in that category needs to get clothing on the road?

Your best bet it to find a store on the road- Walmart has some stuff that might fit- mostly shirts, pants only go upto 46 waist-, or if you can afford it, find a big and tall store (I like casual male XL, they are nationwide). But that can be expensive! Best thing to do is load up when you are home. And I mean LOAD UP, so if you need something you have packed it already.

I guess probably a first post to a forum should be in the “Introduce Yourself” section. However, I do have some ideas for where to look for Big n’ Tall clothes. I’m about 6’3” and I tip the scales around about 330ish. Ex (very-ex) defensive lineman build.

The internet is your friend… There are some great websites that cater to the larger individuals in our society. Here are a few of the websites I buy clothing from.

Do a google search for Zemskys for Wrangler Jeans, I especially like the line of work clothing made by Wrangler called Riggs

Do a search for Draft Horse Clothing - for Rain Gear, Jackets, and Carhart clothing. A little on the pricey side but they always have the size and style of what I’m looking for. And… I like the name “Draft Horse” – yea that’s me.

Do a search for Eddie Bauer Outlet - good prices at the outlet website. Very good quality at Eddie Bauer for Shirts up to 4X-Tall. I’ve got shirts from Eddie Bauer that are eight to ten years old. Faded and little thread-bare but still hold up just fine.

Not sure if you get out this way…

If you’re passing thru the Midwest – Iowa to Arkansas and Indiana to Kansas stop at an Orscheln Store. They are a typical farm and home store but often have larger sizes and a good selection of overalls.

Just off I-44 in Joplin, MO is a Big and Tall Man’s Shop. Exit 8B (Range Line Exit) - the store is in the Southwest corner of where I-44 and Bus 71 meet. I’ve seen the store many times but never have stopped. Looks like you could park a Semi on the outer road. I think it’s called Richard Joseph Boulevard.

Problem with packing a lot of clothing is that larger clothing takes up so much space. I could get six pairs of my wife’s jeans in duffel bag that will hold two pairs of mine. Maybe I should look into an exercise and diet program… naaaaa!:biggrin_25519:

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the leads, DblD! My son comes in at 6'4" and about 280 pounds. We don't have trouble fitting the girth so much as the height. I can buy the plus-size shirts, but their usually so short that they don't quite reach his pants... and trust me, it ain't purty. :biggrin_25523:

I'll have to check out your sources... and any others that folks here may post.

Thanks again for posting... and welcome to the forum!

I will usually go in a Casual Male XL, and come back out without buying anything. Been to two different locations, in two states.
I will order levi's jeans from them, especially when they offer the free shipping from their website.
I mostly wear Carhartt pocket t-shirts, and I find them at Bass Pro shops. Of course, you can order them from anywhere, I like to walk in make my selections, checkout, and away I go. That's also where I get my Carhartt coats, and jackets.
It's unfortunate I can't just walk in a local store, and find what I want. And, they wonder why I don't do more business with the local shops.

Truck stops offer "big"... believe me, they carry BIG, just not tall. It's usually no problem to find a waist size of 52" or so. I'm about 6'-5", depending on which day of the week it is, I find the best tall person fitting stuff at JC Penny's.

I usually go to Casual Male when I need some new stuff. I actually havent bought any clothes in about a year or so, outside of Schneiders online store. They actually have large sizes. Check and see if your comp has an online store.

I get emails from Casual Male. Bigdogs has stores here and there as well as a website...bigdogs.com. Those two often send out emails with various specials and online deals.

    try Kingsizedirect.com as well.

Casual male and kingsize also send out catalogs from time to time.

I got a big ol Jacket from Columbia...very nice winter jacket...Ive had it for...dear lord...10 years? I went to a mens clothing store (dress coats...etc) with my dad and they took my measurments and ordered it for me.

Try Cabela's. I also go to Tractor Supply for 2X Carhartt clothing. JC Penny and Dillards both have pretty decent big and tall dress clothing. It sucks to be tall, big and perfect.
