Refused my first load today

600 bucks. And i don't secure them like I'm going far. I can strap them down almost as fast add they load them. I wouldn't call it good securement, but it's legal. And drive extra careful so I'm not put in a position where i have to slam on the brakes when some jack off pulls out in front of me.

 

I'll show you some secured slinkies. Wait....



That was yesterday in Canada.

 

But... They are in a van. The plywood and aluminum walls will secure them.

 

I know I've said this before but imagine if van walls were made out of see through materials like some of their roofs.

It would be a game changer.

 

I still can't believe that it's totally legal for them to haul paper the way they do. When I worked for Schneider we hauled 48K lbs of paper as 6-8 rolls. They were 7ft tall and in groups of 4. Half in front half near the back. No way to get in front of them and make sure the loaders actually put the straps in there. Plenty of times they were just sitting on friction mats on the floor.

 

@Razororange , you wouldnt believe how many of those paper haulers end up in the ditch on one of the curvy roads around where i haul out of.

Does that paper like to shift around in there since its standing up in the trailer?

 

Amazingly enough I never had any move. I have seen plenty of them flopped over on tight highway ramps. Usually the ones I see aren't the big companies. The ones flipped over tend to be from the White Volvo Mafia and were likely going around the curve with the inside tires off the ground.

I always made sure to be extra careful on turns though when hauling them because I knew they could be loose in there.

 

Guess its a little top heavy then if they got the long rolls of paper setting upright. I heard those paper loads can be heavy as hell too.

 

Not any worse for CoG than a load of lumber on a flatbed.
