I'll type slow for you.

Of every $1 that passes through medicare, only 4 cents goes to paying non health care related costs. The other 96 cents goes toward paying billing from doctor's, hospitals, etc.

You state, and it is true, that they don't reimburse at the full price. Last I heard it was something like 60 cents on the dollar.

Now follow along closely, If they reimbursed at the full rate then, the 4 cents per dollar spent on non health care related costs would go down to between 2 and 3 cents per dollar because they where spending more on health care reimbursements while still spending the same on non-health costs.

 

Post Proof, or would u rather continue looking that stupid?

 

Hmmm... and most every Canadian I've talked to (and living where I do, I talk to plenty), particularly those that have had (or knows someone that had) a chronic, potentially terminal illness, say just the opposite because they won't be admitted or treated until the illness is too far or almost too far along to treat. There's a site, somewhere the has videos of Canadians that drop south of the border to get healthcare, and spend the money to do so, because they cannot get the healthcare they need in Canada.

It is fact that the Canadian government regularly sends their citizens to the US for treatment with all expenses paid when that is the best choice for treatment.

There are well off Canadians that do indeed elect to travel to the US for treatment and pay the cost. Mostly for cosmetic surgery or for treatment by "supestar" doctors. It has nothing to do with if they could get care in Canada.
