Looking at this company for possible employment. Can any SMX drivers chime in and let me know how the company trats you, good freight, pay. I also heard a rumor that SMX will be their own company again due to Western Express not able to come up with the money to buy SMX. Any body heard that?

thanks Rookie, TMC was the other company i was looking at. SMX has a terminal here in Rapid City SD, so was looking at them pretty hard. But knowing Western Express was involved with them kinda made me wary. So might just look at TMC. They have already said they would hire me all the way up here.

been talking more with SMX and will be going with them as soon as i get out of the military. So any SMX drivers out there i would like to know how you are treated and how good the freight is with them. Do you have to wait alot for you next load or do they keep you moving?

I have worked for SMX for awhile and would say it isn't the greatest but far from being the worst. I am real uncomfortable about the Western Express involvement as they are worthless people to work with.
SMX has nice International 9400i's but Western wants to replace them with POS Freightliner Columbias. Western has junk trailers 53' long and weigh too much.
I have been treated well by SMX management but have had a few "come to jesus" discussions about some things that weren't right. They did a lot to help fix those issues.
When I hear complaints about companies, I realize a lot of drivers cause their own grief. -
your right about the compaints. You make a company work even if there are some knucleheads. Im going flatbed. Are your flat or van?
