Good answer. ..
But not to what a doctor would agree with especially not in a court room
Honestly i didn't want to do this for them and i got out of it. this time and the next time and time after that
Yes it's not very sporty of me to play this card on them but i got the results i wanted out of it
Im too old & wise to be jumping through these hoops anymore so i put a stop to it before it started -
I understand where you're coming from, however they weren't asking you to break the law. As crappy as it is your hours of service would be legal. I don't see how you would benefit from simply saying you'd be tired. Really it's akin to me telling my boss I'm gonna stay out late tonight so I'm going to be tired tomorrow. If I wreck the company isn't liable because they didn't force me to stay awake on my 10 hour break. It's an unfair reality of this industry, sometimes our schedules don't match our sleep schedules. I doubt your wife would own a trucking company because you said you'd be tired the next day, all while maintaining a legal record of duty status.

I run like this, as well.. but then again after many years of practice, we adjust. Some people used to days (or nights) have a hard time. As I did, 18 years ago. It's not magic, but ... close!
I get home mid-morning, wife wakes and cooks me b-fast, gets kids to school, goes to work, and sometimes I'm still up, or just "up again." As in awake.....when she gets home. She worries, I don't.
It's not easy starting out, that I'll give him. Especially teaming, like in my "old" FedEx days. How I pulled that year in '03 i have NO clue. Blessed, I guess.
Being new"er" to the industry, it's tough. My mind "kind of " recalls.
I can't sleep on demand. Period. I can meld it into my days anymore, thank gosh!bzinger, Dave_in_AZ, superflow and 1 other person Thank this. -
Thank you assiejosh:
It's like feeding the bears
(And ive done that before) the more frt you move the more frt you will be expected to move
They know i can move frt quick
But sometimes you have show them the borders or they will use you up like a rag and be ready to throw you away like a used up ragOoops, bzinger and NavigatorWife Thank this. -
In a court room? You really are naive. It doesn't matter if you ran the same schedule everyday if you run 100% legal at all times, and if you've got numerous safety awards once you have an accident you're going to be at fault in some manner. As far as what a deal would say? Get rest how you can, just as long as you're getting enough rest. Any doctor you find that says one thing I can find one to contradict your doctor's opinion, it's why they aren't worth spit.

Just say no. Or pull over if your tierd. You can't deliver the load in the ditch. I'm starting a local dirt job for the summer. Did a test drive in a maxi. Boss runs me down a restricted route for a maxi. WTF? I'm getting bad signals already.
G13Tomcat Thanks this. -
Welcome to truck driving, my "shift " changes at least once or twice a week.G13Tomcat Thanks this.

Oh yeah
I know if i had an accident i would definitely have blame hung around my neck
But my unfriendly point to them was: since it was their ideal to do this , i wasn't going be standing alone if something bad happened
They got mad and folded under this, i walked out of there thinking i had lost my job but they called a couple hrs later with a new start time, also had a pointless call from the saftey lady
Just gonna plead the "had a bad day "card. And act like nothing ever happened
Hopefully They won't be calling me for anymore special services
They have plenty of special drivers for kind of thing
I feel bad for roughing them up because i like everyone i work with but that's truckin for yabzinger Thanks this. -
I'm sure we'll be seeing you on here crying about miles or hours in few weeks.. but hey they have "special drivers" for those hours. Not sure why you wouldn't want to be a "go to" driver but I guess some people just aren't built like that. The world needs whiners to keep the balance I suppose. That's truckin for ya.lonewolf4ad Thanks this.
