No, I followed what you meant: cheap entrance fee for a buffet of leftovers. Just throwing the cost out there for the cheap ITS setup.

This TTR is about all the social interaction via the Internet I have regarding business.

While I'm not someone that needs the same thing every day, I never enjoyed working with run of the mill brokers: they never seem to know most of what I need to know to do the job as best I can. I felt frustrated by that.

If you are trying to broker that cheap lumber from those shippers you named above, you are always going to struggle. Most seasoned flatbed owner/ops have much better freight than that cheap sheet. And most of it needs 8 ft tarps. The van freight from those shippers is crap too. Heavy roll stock paper, or scrap paper from some mud hole recycling facility. I see why you struggle to find trucks with those shippers.

So you got a lot of fly by night operators running for less than half if what they could be getting in that area.

You dont have to. There are other brokers who have the customer base to support paying for quality, reliable service.

I have a list of brokers I prefer to deal with. When they cant help me,.. then I live off the loadboards,.. ITS and DAT360. Even off the boards, I have not done a single load for under $2.25 in the last 9 weeks. Leaving Chicago in about an hour with a 32k lb legal load, no tarp and rate of $2.87mi.

4 - 5 months ago Chicago was #### near impossible to get a good open deck rate. Everything I called on was covered within seconds.

This is why I prefer to deal with brokers I have developed relationships with. We have an understanding, I know what rate to expect on the lane from specific shippers they deal with. They treat me fair and I provide a safe reliable service for them. Win win for everyone.

    LOL

Try Denver. Even back in 2014 I had a hard time getting over $2 mi unless it was a freak desperate broker.

Like Miami or Laredo,.. I wont go into Denver with out making enough to afford to dead head out.

If you know the rates and lanes,.. then what is the problem? Buy some trucks, hire some drivers, if you know your numbers,. its so easy a caveman could do it, right?.

Only advise I can provide is that there is more to trucking than the logistics.

The reason those loads were covered within seconds of posting and you calling on them is because they were already stale loads 10 minutes old or older when they appeared on 360 and ITS. Someone with DAT Power had a 10 minute head start on you. They booked it from DAT Power then 360 and ITS post it up when it is already covered and they don't even take it down for the rest of the day.

When a person talks with a smug 'know it all' attitude,.. it rubs people the wrong way.

I hold a high regard for honesty, integrity and principles. I do not like to be lied to. When 3 brokers are all posting the same load for 3 different rates and each one tells you thats all they have in it,.. it doesnt sit well in my book. I rank most brokers right up there with lawyers and used car salesmen.
