    When backing, it's all about setup. Get a good setup, you'll only be doing minor turns of the wheel to get to your ending point.

    You learned to keep your thumbs OUT of the steering wheel inside. That way if your front end took a impact of a bad bridge with a approach plate angle it can spin that wheel and hook YOU really badly.

    What you do instead for the wheel is use the palm to spin it. And if you are backing slow enough there is no need to be fast on the wheel.
