Hahaha!! I was told last week after showing up as scheduled for pu that "$200 was the industry standard" after 10 hours of waiting at the cold storage on Tuesday to get loaded (it took 4 hours for them to put the wrong load on my truck then another 6 hours to remedy that), coupled with my Wednesday morning scheduled delivery being bumped out to Thursday morning.
This broker said that with a straight face. They all do. Of course I foolishly didn't set any terms beforehand and walked right into that one. So you drivers that never haul any brokered loads. Would any of your customers tell you $200 was plenty for a day and a half you can never get back? Probably you guys have those terms set up. $200 the industry standard, right? Lmao.
To be fair I live and die by the sword working with them. But I never whine to them about their lousy offers, never a word. And all I get in return every day is a steady stream of some snooty attitude asking me why I need that much, or how is that fair, or my favorite "I'll remember you" hahahaha, and the whiners oh the whiners. There's a lot of cry baby brokers. And they all of them always seem to forget I didn't call them in the first place. The arrogance of questioning me on my quote when you call me needing a truck. I don't give a #### about fair. Neither do they!
spyder7723 and Ruthless Thank this. -
As a broker I would tell them truck isn't moving until a new rate con is sent. They may haggle but when customer starts asking where truck is I promise you they will do as you ask.noluck Thanks this.

I knew that. Why I didn't do it. I couldn't tell you. Just a total lapse on my part. I had a battle several months ago where I did just that and heated argument ended up getting me most of what I was asking for. It's a shame that people don't do the right thing in the first place. With brokers you can count on the right thing never being done from the start until you push them. Have to push for everything. I ran a load for this very same broker the week before and he knew I wasn't a flake. He has freight around my home base. But I will never work with them again I told him #### off and don't ever call on my truck posting.

If I ever have a load like that where there's a set rate for 10 hours I put it on the rate confirmation before the driver gets loaded he has the option to except or decline the load
Don't want to argue with him after he's getting loaded and irritated -
You would be a rare one to even admit that such could happen up front. Most of them would never admit that for fear of not covering the load.
You're catching heat because of the ways of a vast majority of your colleagues. And they do these things to good carriers too. And the guys that never work with brokers don't put up with even a tenth of that sort of routine brokery BS. That's why they are laughing their ##### off when you tell them they are missing out.
I never expected a 10 hour wait. It wasn't supposed to happen but they screwed up and put the wrong load on my truck.
This was at Millard Refrigerated Service / Lineage Logistics in Louisville, KY. I was told by a buddy who lives near Louisville that he and all the o/o he knows in that area never load at that place because it's always a long wait and everything is screwed up. They ship Smithfield products.
From the looks of it they had about 20 trucks come in for the same exact 16:00 pickup appointment I had. Everyone got a dock door. And they were staffed so well that they went down the docks loading 1 truck at a time.
But anyhow, I will never accept anything picking up or delivering there, never again. And won't work with Syfan either. -
That's ok. I won't miss that 95 cpm.
-
"I swear it's easy on easy off no waiting pickup whenever deliver anytime!!!!!" Then goes sideways and costs you your money load :/
spyder7723 Thanks this. -
I loaded early in the morning for one of my customers last summer, got 45 minutes down the road and he was calling. Told me one of the drops they had put the wrong product on and to bring the whole thing back.
Pulled back in the plant and they unloaded the entire load and gave me a drop load going in another direction. They paid me for the load they had me bring back.Hurst, spyder7723, Ruthless and 1 other person Thank this.
