So I visited the Danny Herman yard in Lebanon, TN today (no one there), and I saw a number of Titan trailers dropped o
there. I am not really surprised, I just it was serendipidous was all!

Saw a side of Titan Transfer that really peeked my interest; it seems that Titan has an opportunity to pull flatbed out of the Clarksville, Ind terminal. My wife and I were headed to Nashville a couple weeks ago, and we saw a Titan truck pulling flat with a load of hazardous tanks on board. I have a building interest in hauling flatbed, and I was quite excited to see Titan doing just that... however rare the opportunity is.

So, just a quick update; Tomorrow I will be turning in a 2-week notice with my current company... after a 17 year hiatus from professional trucking, I will finally be back in the truck. I will work it out with Titan tomorrow to narrow down a start day in early April.

Everything is a go; in the next week or so I will get links to some pre-employment orientation videos, and then I will do an official half day of orientation on the 3rd of April. I spent a good part of the evening yesterday talking to my trainer to find out just what I need to bring with me when I get on his truck. It has not quite sunk in yet, but stuff is about to get real!

Logistics, logistics, logistics! Titan is needing me to take a DOT physical and drug screen today... to do that, I need a 3 to 6 month compliance letter from the sleep center showing I am still following treatment protocol... to do that, I need the little memory card from my machine... add to this, my current employer is holding a going away luncheon for me at 11AM, and I need to see my family doctor at 1PM to get my BP meds extended out to three month prescriptions...

You will find a number of changes, since the Mack truck days of yore. That school will do you good. If you are sent with a trainer, be sure to learn as much as you can. Ive been gone from the big road a while myself and Im still learning. And most of what I have learned pretty much confirmed that I myself is a dinosaur and somewhat not welcome among today's brave new world of safe spaces and snowflake incorperated.

The sleep APNEA deal is going to impact my DOT physical as long as I am a professional driver! I will now need to make sure that I have an appointment set-up with the sleep center prior to taking any physical, so that the sleep center can pull the reports off of my data card (micro SD). The office performing the DOT physical requires current 3 to 6 months of data before approving any physical... And the report will require a doctors signature for authenticity.

So, all this to say, that I am unable to take a DOT physical till after my sleep center visit which is the middle of next week. This will delay my entry onto a Titan truck by one week, as my schedule will slip to the right by a week.

All is good though, as Titan Transfer understands, and has been more than helpful and accommodating considering. More when I know more.
