I never pulled a reefer well I did load a few times to help someone out.I do know its not for a greenhorn.because its easy to lose money if you dont know a few tricks of the trade.Knew a wood chip haulin co.that started pulling reefers but not for long.
-
You aren't going to stuff a 10' wide in that reefer, either.
-
Yea and think how long you have to study for it.Not like some of the big truckin co.sJust send in a monthly payment for all neg.results.

Have pulled a reefer for most of my years driving.Everything in this thread is basically true.however, in hard times, there will always be loads as long as people are still eating. This I keep telling myself when I`m getting jerked around somewhere.Dealing with lumpers and buying\selling pallets are my 2 main pet peeves. They are noisy but when I park next to another truck I most always cut the unit off which isn`t going to change the product temp for at least several hours(on most loads).Usually I can sleep thru the noise but have been known to cut irt off for me,too.
Grocery warehouses are a challenge. You can kill more flies with honey than manure. It is difficult to remain cheerful when you know you are getting screwed.Smile and wait.I think it upsets people more when they can`t get under your skin.
I`ve made decent money with a reefer over the years. It`s not for everybody. It sucks when you are stuck at a receiver or shipper with 15 trucks in front of you.And it helps to be smarter than what you are working with. -
Hey I like your personal opion. But I like a lot of things other people dont like.

I've had to dead head more with a flatbed than a reefer. Last flatbed job I average 150 miles dead head. With the reefer jobs average around 100. Yes a few times was more but cause as I was in transit they found out the load would not fit in the 48" trailer I was pulling. -
O thats easy load it at an angle.
-
everyone has to eat! Coming from the auto industry that was the deciding factor in choosing a company to drive for. My hubby went from a very high stress job, the responsibilty of a reefer isn't a big deal!

LOL yeah would be hard, i havent touched that stuff since high school in all honesty.
Oh and yes i know i fall under the same rules as everybody else, but its been 5 years now and i have yet to take one.
